Observing your emotions

🌸This is a great short read on emotions in the body. It reflects a lot of what I was saying in my most recent video in my Meditate for LIFE private Facebook group on the idea of observing the sensations in your body when certain emotions come up.

For many, anxiety presents as a tightness around the neck and shoulders and a constriction in your breathing. Sadness or depression often gives a feeling of cloudiness in the head, tunnel vision, and a weighted feeling in the body.

As I said in my video, the first thing to do is to start noticing it. Notice the emotion that comes up, and then observe the corresponding changes inside your body in response. If this is new to you, it really is a good idea to focus your energy on the observation side of things. Try to tune in to what the emotion is (name it) and what your body is doing in response to the emotion. Sometimes you can't do this in the moment, but try to do it as soon as you can after it happens. The more familiar you are with the different sensations, the easier it will be to recognise what is happening next time.

After doing this for a while, there are some tricks you can use to help yourself out of this place if you want to change your emotions or sensations, but I want to leave you with this for now to try out and see what comes up for you.

I'd LOVE to see how it goes for you. Leave me a comment or question or share with your friends! 👇
